Terms of use

It is free

Printol costs nothing. Every feature, on as many computers as you like, for as long as you like. There is no paid tier, no licence key, no account, no seat count and no trial that ends. Nothing in the software will ever ask you for money or for card details, and if something ever does, it did not come from us.

You may install it on a shop counter, a hundred shop counters, or a customer's machine you are setting up for them. You may bundle the installer with your own product. You may write software against the local API and sell that software. None of this requires our permission and none of it costs anything.

What we ask in return is that you do not pass it off as your own work — do not strip the name and republish it as a different product. If you want your own branding on the pairing dialog, ask us and we will help you do it properly.

What you are responsible for

  • The content you print. Printol lays out what you send it. Whether an invoice is correct, whether it satisfies your tax authority, and whether the numbers add up, is yours.
  • Who you pair with. Approving a pairing request grants that origin the scopes shown on the dialog. Read the origin before you click Allow.
  • Your backups. The data is on your computer, which means it is as safe as your computer. Export regularly.

What we are responsible for

Being straight with you about what the software does. If this site says it does something and it does not, that is a bug and we want to hear about it. We will fix what we reasonably can.

Being free changes what you can expect in one direction only: there is no support contract and no response-time guarantee. We do answer email, usually the same day. There is nothing to refund and therefore nothing to argue about.

Availability

The desktop app runs locally and does not depend on us being online. We may change or discontinue this website and the download service at any time. If we ever stop working on Printol, the last released build keeps working on the machines it is installed on: there is no licence server that can switch it off, and no subscription check to fail.

No warranty

The software is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. That is the ordinary bargain for something given away, and it is worth reading literally: nobody has promised you that a receipt will print correctly on your particular printer, and you should test before a queue forms.

Limits of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profit, lost data or business interruption arising from your use of Printol, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us — which is nothing. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction.
